Dog Days of Summer – Good Strategies for Fishing in August

Are you interested in some good strategies for fishing in August?  Even though it has definitely been the dog days of summer with high temperatures, there are still plenty of opportunities to catch fish if you utilize good strategies for fishing in August. In the mornings, try a Whopper Plopper by River2Sea. I have had some good luck with this bait. In addition, on days when there is low wind, a Lucky Craft Gunfish produces good numbers of bass when fished over timber.

There have been shad moving in large bays which has created a good bite in the morning hours. On those tough days when it’s hard to get a bite, you can always use a drop shot in 5 to 15 feet of water, especially near the bluffs.

The water level is currently at 914, which is below the normal summer pool. They have been using two generators at the dam in order to meet power demands. The bass tend to locate themselves on points and outside river bends when generators are running.

Make sure you take plenty to drink out on the boat during the hot weather!  Stay safe!
